Article: THE RUSSIAN MANICURE IS NOT ACTUALLY A "RUSSIAN" TECHNIQUE

LA MANICURA RUSA EN REALIDAD NO ES UNA TÉCNICA "RUSA"

THE RUSSIAN MANICURE IS NOT ACTUALLY A "RUSSIAN" TECHNIQUE

The Russian manicure (Onna Therapy) is a new trend in the aesthetics and personal care sector that is achieving great success. This is a manicure that is slightly different from the normal one since it focuses on treating the cuticle to achieve cleaner and more well-groomed hands.

This manicure owes its name to the fact that in Eastern countries, and especially in Russia, it has become the most widespread. That is why it must be clarified that there is nothing Russian in this technique.

From a technical point of view, the Russian manicure is performed with a drill and achieves a deep cleaning of the nail, completely removing the cuticle.

It is also the most complicated technique because it can only be performed by the most professional manicurists and requires very meticulous work not only due to the use of the lathe but also due to the precision required to clean the surface of the nail.

As for the differences or advantages and disadvantages of the Russian manicure compared to the traditional manicure, they are:

  • The manicure of the Russian manicure is a perfect manicure for three weeks while the other manicures last at most 10 days.
  • Frequency: Another of its advantages is that, since the manicure is not so intensive, the nail becomes harder and is better preserved.
  • 𝐋𝐚 𝐭𝐞́𝐜𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚: in Russian manicure, the technique used is using an electric lathe that helps to eliminate the cuticle as much as possible and achieve clean and very well-cared for hands.
  • 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝: in the case of the Russian manicure, it is essential to go to a center specialized in this method since it cannot be done at home. Adequate knowledge and materials are needed, something that does not always happen with traditional manicure.
  • 𝐎𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐬: the objectives pursued with both manicures are also different. With the Russian one, what we want is to achieve cleaner hands without cuticles: with the traditional one, we seek to improve the appearance of the hands and nails in a generic way.
  • 𝐄𝐥 𝐞𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐝𝐨: the Russian manicure is usually complemented with the polish that each client prefers. Multiple colors and trends can be chosen. On the other hand, traditional manicures almost always opt for a more classic polish like the French one.
